Neubauer Farms hosting farm to table fundraiser Aug. 19

Neubauer Farms and the Medicine Hat & District Child Care Association will be co-hosting the Farm to Table Feast and Fundraiser on Aug. 19.
The event will take place at Neubauer Farms and will feature garden-picked produce and meat produced on the farm itself.
“This is really the definition of local food,” says Nichole Neubauer. “We are raising some Cornish-cross chickens for the event. They will be processed at a governmentally inspected facility, and we also have some pork as well …
“We will be harvesting from the garden everything from zucchini and potato to tomatoes, rhubarb and strawberries for the meal. Local Red Seal chef Debbie Klauss will be preparing the meal with her students at her culinary school.”
A shuttle service will be provided by Neubauer Farms running out of the UFA farm centre parking lot starting at 5 p.m. Dinner is at 6 p.m. The licensed event is for those 18 years and up, and will feature a special rhubarb and strawberry (picked at the farm) brew courtesy of Hell’s Basement.
Neubauer says proceeds from the feast will go into a special fund for the members of the Child Care Association to be used in various aspects of agricultural education.
“Maybe they want a farmer to come into their classroom, or raise some chicks in their classroom or come to the Growing Minds program at our farm — any of those types activities would be approved to use these funds,” explains Neubauer.
“It’s about accessibility to agriculture education for all, and that’s what we are hoping this fundraiser will do.”
Medicine Hat & District Child Care Association co-ordinator Jennifer Usher is grateful to Neubauer Farms for co-hosting the event, and wants to encourage many in the Medicine Hat area to come out and support local food and children’s agriculture education in the region.
“We are very excited to partner with (Neubauer Farms) on this.We are hoping a lot of people from the region will join us at the fundraiser, have a really great meal and raise some money to go toward a really good cause,” she says.
Tickets for Farm to Table Feast and Fundraiser are $80 each or $150 for a pair. Text 403-580-9654 to have your tickets delivered.
